AGORA comes from the Greek word “αγορά” and stands for a marketplace. However the word originates from an ancient Greek verb “αγeipw” which means “to assembly” Hence in ancient Greek cities, an AGORA was an open space serving as an assembly area and backdrop for commercial, civic, social, and religious activities.
Hence for AEGEE the AGORA is AEGEE-Europe’s bi-annual network general meeting. Over 600 students meet for 4 days to discuss AEGEE’s projects, strategy and action plans in order to take decision and set up guidelines for the successive 6 months.

During the AGORA, AEGEE members also vote to elect the new Comité Directeur and all other AEGEE-Europe structures that will lead the association in the next term. The main discussion and decisions are held during the different plenary meeting. However preparation is done beforehand, both during the prytanias and in the workshops that take place throughout the days of the AGORA.
Many AGORAS have taken place in AEGEE’s history since the 1st one in Munich way back in April 1986. However it is the 1st time that AEGEE-Valletta has the honour to host the general network meeting coinciding also with the 10th anniversary of the local antenna.
